Lightning Protection and Disaster Reduction Management Measures

The China Meteorological Administration has announced the newly revised "Management Measures for Lightning Protection and Disaster Reduction", which will come into effect on June 1, 2025. The measures require strengthening the digital supervision of lightning protection safety, promoting the implementation of the main responsibility for lightning protection safety, and increasing the management system of key lightning protection safety units. The lightning protection devices for newly constructed, renovated, and expanded buildings should be designed, constructed, and put into use simultaneously with the main project. After being put into use, the lightning protection devices should be regularly tested, with explosive and fire hazardous environments being tested every six months and other locations being tested annually. The lightning protection device testing unit should use the lightning protection safety information supervision platform as required to ensure the authenticity and reliability of the testing report and upload it to the platform.
